Website redesignwithout losing rankings

Not just “make it pretty”: we rework the structure, speed and customer path while keeping what already brings in leads. First an audit of the site and analytics, then design and a migration with redirects

Six reasons sites get redesigned

A rebrand and leaving a site builder are different jobs with different risks. Every redesign starts with what exactly is getting in the way right now

  • 01

The design is dated, but traffic is there

People arrive from search, but the site looks older than the company. The key is to refresh the look without breaking what already brings in clients

    • Review of the pages that generate leads
    • New design on the same URLs
    • Copy and meta tags carried over intact
    • Lead comparison before and after
  • 02

The site builder hit its ceiling

You need a calculator, a filter or a CRM connection, and the template won’t allow it. We move you to your own platform and bring everything you have built along

    • Export of pages and leads
    • Your own code, no subscription fees
    • Integrations you never had
    • Redirects from the old URLs
  • 03

A slow site on an old CMS

Pages take five seconds to load, plugins conflict, updates are scary. Here modernization starts with the code, not the visuals

    • Speed baseline before work starts
    • Dropping unnecessary plugins
    • Lightweight images and fonts
    • An admin panel that is safe to update
  • 04

    The company has rebranded

The new logo, colors and name are already on paper, but the site still wears the old look. We carry the brand across every page, not just the header

    • New style on every template
    • Name change without losing search traffic
    • Move to a new domain if needed
    • Updated link preview images
  • 05

The site doesn’t work on phones

Tiny buttons, a menu that won’t open, a form that slides off the edge. Most visitors come from a phone and leave before they finish reading

    • Mobile version of every template
    • Call button and messengers within reach
    • Forms that are easy to fill in
    • Testing on real phones
  • 06

Several sites need to become one

Separate sites for services, branches or old brands compete with each other in search. We merge them into one and consolidate the URLs

    • One shared section structure
    • Redirects from every domain
    • One analytics setup instead of several
    • A single admin panel and one lead inbox

The project path from audit to comparison

Six steps to redesign an old site. First we see what works, and only then decide what to change

  1. 01Audit and analytics

    We audit the current site

We review analytics and webmaster tools: where people come from, which pages generate leads, where they drop off. We measure speed and check the mobile version

  2. 02Page inventory

    We decide what to keep

Every page gets a label: keep, rework, merge or remove. Anything that brings traffic and leads is never touched blindly

  3. 03Prototype

    We build the new structure

Sections, menus and block order as gray boxes. The client’s path to an inquiry gets shorter, and the pages that matter stay in place

  4. 04Mockups

    We design it

The home page and inner templates for desktop and mobile, with your real copy. Changes happen before development, while they are still cheap

  5. 05Migration and 301s

    We migrate with redirects

Development on a staging site, migration of copy, meta tags and reviews. Every changed URL gets a 301 redirect

  6. 06Before and after

    We launch and compare

We switch the domain and check indexing and goals. For the first weeks we watch rankings and leads and compare them with the old site

In every redesign

  1. 01Audit of the current site and analytics
  2. 02Page inventory: what to keep and what to cut
  3. 03New structure and prototype
  4. 04Desktop and mobile design
  5. 05Front-end and back-end development
  6. 06Migration of copy, meta tags and reviews
  7. 07301 redirect map
  8. 08Analytics goals on the new site
  9. 09Speed and indexing checks after launch
  10. 10Comparison with the old site after a month

What we check before and after

Before work starts we record the old site's metrics, after launch the new one's. We compare numbers, not a feeling that “it looks nicer”

What we check before and after the redesign: Analytics, Webmaster tools, Redirect map, Load speed, Indexing, Goals and leads, Reviews and content, Mobile version

For the audit we need guest access to your analytics and webmaster tools. If the old site has no analytics, we set it up before work starts so there is something to compare against. Without a “before” baseline, nobody can honestly say things got better

How to keep rankings through a redesign

Sites drop in search after a migration not because of the new design but because of small things someone forgot. We go through them from a checklist

  • URLs stay the same or get a 301

If a page URL changes, the old one doesn’t return an error — it points to the new one with a 301 redirect. Search engines carry over the accumulated weight, and a visitor from a bookmark lands in the right place

  • Copy and meta tags move in full

Titles, descriptions and copy of pages that already rank are carried over as is. We rewrite only what we decided to improve, and we know exactly where

  • The site is not blocked from indexing at launch

The staging version is hidden from search; at switchover we lift the block and check robots.txt and the sitemap. A forgotten block is a common reason redesigns fail

  • Internal links point to the new URLs

Menus, in-text links and breadcrumbs point straight to the new pages, with no redirect chains or dead links

  • Analytics goals are verified

Form submission, call, messenger click — every goal fires on the new site just as on the old one. Otherwise there is nothing to compare before and after

  • Rankings are watched for the first weeks

After launch we monitor rankings, indexing and errors in webmaster tools. If a page drops, we look into it right away, not a quarter later

Website redesign: packages

The cost depends on the number of templates, the migration volume and a platform change. We send an estimate after the audit and don't change it after kickoff unless the scope changes

What drives the cost

  • Thousands of pages or products with URL migration
  • A platform with no export: content is collected by hand
  • Merging sites on different domains
  • A brand identity from scratch instead of adapting an existing one
  • ERP, CRM and inventory integrations that have to be rewritten

How the work runs

  1. 01

    Audit and estimate

    3–5 days

A 30-minute call and access to your analytics and webmaster tools. We send an audit of the current site and an estimate broken into stages

  2. 02

    Structure and design

    1–3 weeks

A prototype of the new structure, then mockups of the home page and templates. Changes happen before development, not after

  3. 03

    Development and migration

    per estimate

We build the site on a staging address, migrate content and prepare redirects. Each stage is signed off

  4. 04

    Launch and monitoring

    30 days

We switch the domain and watch indexing, rankings and leads. A month of support is included

Ask on Telegram
  1. The exact figure comes after the audit

The cost depends on the number of templates, the migration volume and whether the platform changes. A redesign on the same platform, a move to a new one, and a store or multi-site merge are three very different scopes. We send an estimate after the audit and don’t change it unless the scope changes

  2. Yes, if the other pages can keep up with it

A home page redesign makes sense when the inner pages are in good shape. If the new home page would look sharply different from the rest of the site, we will tell you at the audit. The cost of that work is set after the audit, before kickoff

  3. We do everything to prevent it, but nobody can guarantee search results

Rankings are most often lost because of changed URLs without redirects, lost copy and a forgotten indexing block. We cover all of that from a checklist and watch rankings for the first weeks. Nobody who is honest about search guarantees positions

  4. Yes: update the theme or move to a new platform

If WordPress is coping, we redesign on it: a new theme, plugin cleanup, speed work. If the site is held back by plugins and speed, we move it to Next.js with a custom admin panel and redirects from every old URL

  5. No, the old one runs until switchover

We build the new version on a private staging address. The old site keeps taking inquiries until the last day, and the domain switch takes minutes at an agreed time

  6. Yes, that is the third package

For a store we migrate the catalog, filters, product pages, orders and reviews, keep product and category URLs, and reconnect your ERP, payments and shipping. There is more work than on a company site, so the timeline starts at 10 weeks

  7. Yes, the whole project in one team

The audit, design, front end, back end and migration are all done by one team. No need to hire a freelancer for each stage and figure out who broke the redirects. If you only need a new design for your own team, we can do that too
